Well, what the topic says.. I'd like to hear suggestions for any new movie that is worthy to watch, as well as resources that are regularly updated which name such movies, as majority of things created are really junk. I could suggest The Social Network to anyone who haven't seen it yet, as it's a rare case of a movie closely related with computers without anything that makes puke anyone that has any understanding of them. I also found this movie very inspiring for coding Ooh, and.. Any movie you think is good, that isn't new also is very welcome. Thanks.

I love movies where computers can "enhance" a 4x4 pixel image of a car so that the licence plate is clearly readable, chirping along merrily while doing so. --- |

I typically watch a movie about 100 times in a row, just looping all day for a week or two. Right now I'm watching Home Alone 2. It's the shiz.

Well of course advanced algorithms and super computers can do anything, regardless human understanding of the things, but it often gets me bored.. Unless I drink at the moment, or am with someone to laugh at this thing.. Append:

That's all you think they can do? I've seen them use a 4x4 pixel image of the window on a building, and bounce off the reflections on the glass back across the road, bounce back behind where the camera took the picture, and be able to read a finger print on a business card in the pocket of the guy operating the camera. And they were only getting warmed up! |

Actually that's possible, I've done it.

"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"? Magical realism + 8/16 bit era games = win. Tobias Dammers said: Are you kidding me? Why doesn't the JPEG group jump on this? 4 pixels * sizeof(truecolor) = 16 bytes! Can you imagine how fast you could download your pr0n? They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

@Gnolam Heck, nice tech.. I wish they made that algorithm public one day.

I was going to put something about the pigeonhole principle here, but I really doubt there are more images in the world than there are bit combinations for 4 truecolor pixels. They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

Quote: Man Shoots Dog Couldn't find. Found and downloading Gnolam's correction.. Though it's the only movie from the list I haven't seen, and couldn't find on the national Russian torrent tracker, and the one on piratebay doesn't have seeders, I'll see what I can do though. Downloading 11 of the 18 movies, as 6 I've seen and 1 I have downloaded and not wathed yet. However, the 6 I've seen- I loved all. So I believe I'll have about 20 hours of pleasure watching these creations. Thanks a LOT Lenny, really. Oh however, the District 9.. It has a very nice concept, but the movie is actually made fairly poorly.. Especially the storyline is.. Silly, although not terrible. Append: Vanneto said: You are kidding right? I mean, you do know its all bullshit? Of course, a bunch of geeks like us can sit on the forum and laugh at technological advances of secret services, while we're downloading gigabytes of poorly compressed porn.. But they have the tech, they don't wanna share.. Append1:

As far as Apocalypse Now is concerned, I'd definitely recommend watching the Redux version. For Blade Runner the latest director's cut is a must see. Other than that some films that I've really liked (some of them are quite disturbing):

Arthur Kalliokoski said: I really doubt there are more images in the world than there are bit combinations for 4 truecolor pixels. Interesting thought. So all you'd have to do is collect every single image on Earth, index them using 96-bit integers, and distribute those instead of the actual images. Brilliant! (And BTW, the largest unsigned 96-bit integer is equivalent to 12561542762916085995 years of footage shot at 200 fps; at the same frame rate, continuously filming each square meter of the planet individually, we'd still have enough room for roughly 24000 years of footage). --- |

I was hoping to show that there must be at least two distinct images mapping to the same bit combination. They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

@OICW Blade runner I've seen, probably the director's cut.. About Apocalypse Now(hail SC2 Banshee), yes the one I'm getting is eventually a redux version. Out of the movies you suggest, I've seen these:
And I really loved all of'em. The other ones will be downloaded at once. Damn, how could I never asked for something a simple as that before.. "gimme good movies please".. Though perhaps I could never imagine such a request will really end up with a set of good movies! Append: I've seen threads too. We've had here a discussion about a nuclear war a while ago(5 months ago?), and then I was suggested The Day After and Threads. Probably the suggestion came from OICW as well.
