Does anyone have any pictures of injuries to brag about? Here's mine: {"name":"img4552smallfe0.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/c\/b\/cbe133d62f8809f7f351f3c25fc8e38a.jpg","w":400,"h":300,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/c\/b\/cbe133d62f8809f7f351f3c25fc8e38a"} I got this last wednesday, but the picture was taken on saturday. It actually got a little worse since then. More blood in the eye and the black parts got bigger and darker. My whole left half of the face and the entire head hurts and I still feel a little dizzy. Btw, do you think I should see a doctor? I already did the same day it happened, but she said there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home. -- |

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Years of thorough research have revealed that what people find beautiful about the Mandelbrot set is not the set itself, but all the rest. |
Quote: I really hope it had nothing to do with this. Luckily no. I got it playing football. Some guy crashed his knee into my face with great force. Right into my cheeck bone somewhere between the eye and the ear. For some reason I only got bruises around the eye while the actual place of impact doesn't even hurt... -- |
Quote: do you think I should see a doctor? I'd say so, yeah. Don't you usually have to drain out the blood (not from the eye) or some such, to prevent pressure building up? Anything head-related should be dealt with carefully anyway...
I don't like the sound of that. -- |
Bah, Miran, it is just an eye. You have two eyes, so one left is worth a detail ;-p "Code is like shit - it only smells if it is not yours" |
Ouch! That makes me wince just looking at it. I'd definitely see a doctor if I were you. ================================================= |
That looks painful just looking at it, yeah I'd have a second doctor look at it, but if the blood is in the eye I don't think they can do much about it, just keep plenty of ice packs on it. ___________________________________ |
Quote: Don't you usually have to drain out the blood (not from the eye) or some such, to prevent pressure building up? No, not unless the swelling is sticking out an inch or two from his head (which I really doubt). As for blood vessels that burt in the eye - they look much worse than they really are, and it can sometimes take quite a while before the normal colouring returns. I took a direct hit to the eye once, and it looked like in Miran's photo for about a month. Bruising and swelling on the outside of the skull is nothing really. It's bruising on the inside that is dangerous, and the dizziness Miran is experiencing could be a sign of this.
If I've learnt anything from my past, it is not to jump to any (medical) conclusions based on my petty knowledge in that matter. I could be in a much better physical state/have less scars if I had sought medical care in time (on several occasions). While the human body can cope with many things, I consider the head (and the eyes in particular) as rather picky. To sum it up: +1 on the whole "go to a doctor's" idea. _______________________________ |
Blood in your eye such a that generally looks bad, but also tends to go away on its own after a few days/weeks. I'll side with the doctor in saying that you only have a black eye and are fine, however, if you start losing any visual acuity in the eye, then you should probably head back to the doctor. As far as injuries to brag about, I think I have you beat with a head shot alone; throwing in the rest of my once mangled corpse would just be unfair.
Ouch, miran. Also, I think a new avatar is in order now.
Also, relpats, how did that happen? |
Just a black eye does not leave you dizzy five days later. Trust me, I have much experience with black eyes.
I think the eye itself is nothing to worry about. Miran said: Right into my cheeck bone somewhere between the eye and the ear If the inner ear was somehow affected by the hit, that might explain the dizziness. -R |
Heh, I have now started to feel a bit better, so no doctor for me. Besides, I have other things on my mind right now... -- |
That'll make a good epitaph.
